RABAC
The small holiday town of Rabac is based below the town of Labin (320 m above sea level), in a small bay with a beautiful gravel beach and a magnificent view of the island of Cres and across the gulf of Kvarner. At the end of the XIX century Rabac received its first tourists. They arrived in the small centre on steamships, through the agency "Lloyd" of Trieste, and came to visit Istria and the gulf of Kvarner. Since the beginning of the XX century Rabac has held the status of a bathing and health resort with three features: “Hotel Kvarner” in Opatija, the town of Labin and Miramare (with a maintained promenade). The development of tourism, as we know it today, began in the 60’s and 70’s. Today the centre has 10 comfortable hotels and campsites. Only 5 km away in Labin it is possible to visit a quite interesting mine museum with one mineshaft open to visitors. Furthermore you can explore the art galleries and studios scattered in the historic town centre or visit one of the cafes or restaurants, or can enjoy the breathtaking view of Rabac, the island Cres and the Kvarner bay. If you would like to become acquainted with the country and the people in the hinterland and typical country houses, you will be able to taste traditional culinary specialties. Thanks to the beautiful beaches and the clean and calm sea, Rabac offers a pleasant family vacation.
Excursions available: Venice, Brijuni (Brioni) National Park, Plitvice Lakes National Park, canoe safari, “Fish Picnic” boat excursion to the island of Cres, excursion to the island Krk, Istria tour (Rovinj/Porec), visit to the Postojna caves and the Lipizzaner stud farm.
