Umag is one of the most popular holiday places in Istria and is situated on the north-western coast of the peninsula. In the last two decades Umag has grown up to be the most well known sports centre in Croatia, thanks above all to the famous international tennis tournament, ATP “Croatia Open”, which takes place every year, receiving many well known names from the tennis world. In its long history, Umag has been the residence of many noblemen and this is evidenced by the many Venetian palaces in the town centre. In the interior, in the area of Buje, we can find the famous “wine trails”, with wine cellars where you can taste and acquire local wines. Many country houses are run in the family tradition, where you can taste all the regional specialties. Umag is known not only for the international tennis tournament of tennis, but also as an active vacation canter with tourist villages and apartments which have been adapted especially for family vacations.
