PUNAT
The small town of Punat is situated on the west coast of the island of Krk in a sheltered bay and welcomes its guests with its mild Mediterranean climate, narrow lanes in the old part of town, unspoiled natural beaches, fruitful vineyards and olive groves. Witness to the secular history of the city are its numerous cultural monuments, of which the following are worth noting: the parish Church with its altar in the baroque style, the medieval chapel of St. George (Sv. Juraj) and the ancient Roman Church of St. Donat. Taking a walk in the high parts of Punat you can admire the island of Košljun located in the middle of the bay and the unique blend of nature, culture and history. In the Franciscan monastery on the island is situated a fine collection of sacred ethnographic, ancient and precious books. Also very interesting is a visit to the island of Košljun and its parish church, where concerts of classical music are held, exhibitions in the gallery "Toš", sailing boat regattas and olive picking. Punat offers the possibility to practice many water sports, but it also has various restaurants that offer regional gastronomic specialties. For those who are seeking adventure there is the possibility to practice paragliding.
