The dense forests, the beautiful sandy beaches, the vineyards and the olive trees make Jelsa and its surroundings one of the most attractive destinations on the island of Hvar. On the eastern side of the town is situated the Mina bay, with its wonderful beach and on the small peninsula Glavica you will find the beach Soline. The island Zečevo is a naturist beach which can be reached by boat. The town Jelsa has a long tourist history which began in 1911, when the first hotel (Jadran) was built, and two years later the first guide book of the town was published. Nowadays Jelsa is an important tourist resort thanks to the rich variety of hotels, apartments and campsites, facilities for practicing various kinds of sports (tennis, miniature golf, scuba diving courses, water sports etc.) and very good gastronomic opportunities based mostly on exquisite fish, olive oil and wine from the island.
