Travel Routes
You will often find that different routes and combinations of different routes lead
to the same resorts. It is naturally your free choice which route to choose but we
would like to give you some useful advice about the different routes. To make it easier,
the routes are described starting from southern Germany – Munich. From here the most
comfortable is the route via Trieste (Route 1) which involves driving along the motorways
to Koper in Slovenia. If you are driving along route 3 to Dalmatia, you will have
the opportunity to visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park, or even to stay there overnight;
it is really worth considering! Route 1For the following resorts: Umag, Novigrad, Porec, Funtana, Vrsar, Rovinj, Pula, Medulin, Rabac, Cres, Mali und Veli Lošinj. The route is as follows: Munich - Salzburg - Tauernautobahn - Villach - Arnoldstein (the border with Italy) - Tarvisio - Udine - Palmanova - Trieste - (in Trieste follow the signs to "Slovenia" or "Capodistria") - Škofije (the border with Slovenia) - Koper. To reach Umag, please follow from Koper the signs to Portorož and Umag and drive across the border at Secovlje/Plovanija into Croatia. For Novigrad, Porec, Funtana, Vrsar, Rovinj, Pula und Medulin please follow from Koper the signs to Pula and drive across the border to Croatia at Dragonja/Kaštel. After the border follow the signs to Pula and take the highway “The Istrian Y” which follows the west coast of Istria to Pula. To reach Rabac, Cres, Veli and Mali Lošinj, in Slovenia please follow the signs “Ljubljana/Rijeka” and after that “Rijeka”. Cross the border into Croatia at Socerga/Požane and after Buzet you will reach the Ucka-tunnel. Before the tunnel turn right in the direction of “Brestova” and then follow the signs “Brestova”. To reach Cres, Mali or Veli Lošinj take the ferryboat from Brestova to Porozine (the island Cres). To reach Rabac follow the signs to Labin, after which Rabac is 5 km distance.Route 2For all the resorts in Dalmatia from Starigrad Paklenica and Zaton to Zadar, Split and the Makarska Riviera to Dubrovnik, including the islands. Munich - Salzburg - Tauernautobahn - Villach - Karawankentunnel (border with Slovenia) - Ljubljana - Novo Mesto - Metlika/Jurovski Brod (border with Croatia) - Karlovac - Bosiljevo - tunnel Mala Kapela - Brinje - Otocac - Gospic - Sveti Rok - Zadar - Benkovac - Pirovac – Vrpolje (near Šibenik) - Split. This route leads to the new motorway Zagreb – Split. To reach Starigrad – Paklenica, exit the motorway at the exit “Maslenica”. For the resorts Zaton-Nin, Petrcane, Zadar and the islands Ugljan, Zverinac and Dugi otok exit the motorway at the “Zadar 1” exit (signposted Nin/Smilcic/Zadar-zapad"). After the toll station turn left in the direction "Vir/Nin/Zadar" and follow the signs to your resort. The islands Ugljan, Zverinac and Dugi otok are reachable via ferryboat from Zadar. To travel to Biograd, leave the motorway at the exit “Benkovac“. To travel to Pirovac, leave the motorway at the exit “Pirovac“. To travel to Šibenik and Primošten, leave the motorway at the exit “Šibenik“. For all the resorts around Split, such as the islands Šolta, Brac, Hvar and Lastovo leave the motorway in Split and then follow the signs for the individual resorts or take the ferryboat for the islands in the port of Split. From Split the coast road leads to the Makarska Riviera and further to Dubrovnik and Cavtat.Route 3For all the resorts in Dalmatia from Starigrad Paklenica and Zaton across Zadar, Split and the Makarska Riviera to Dubrovnik, including the islands, as well as the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Follow route no. 2 to Karlovac. In Karlovac instead of taking the new motorway take the old road across Slunj to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. From here, take the motorway in Otocac in the direction of Zadar and Split. From here on, please follow the description of route no. 2 from Zadar.Route 4For the destinations Rijeka and Opatija, the islands Krk, Cres, Lošinj, Rab and Pag, and for all the destinations in Dalmatia from Zadar to Dubrovnik. Please follow route no. 1 to Trieste; after you leave the motorway in Trieste, follow the signs to Rijeka, drive across the Slovenian Border Pese/Kozina and then further across the Croatian border at Pasjak in the direction of Rijeka and Opatija, which are shown on all the signs. For other destinations, please follow the signs to Split. The island of Krk is reached by crossing the bridge near Kraljevica. The islands of Cres and Lošinj are reached by ferryboat from Valbiska. To reach the island of Rab, please take the ferryboat in Jablanac. For the island of Pag take the ferryboat in Prizna. If you want to proceed to Dalmatia, you can take the coastal road between Senj and Starigrad-Paklenica, or take the ferryboat to the island of Rab and drive across the island to reach Zadar.Route 5For the destinations Rabac, Cres, Mali and Veli Lošinj, as well as all the destinations in central Istria, please follow route no. 2 to Ljubljana. From Ljubljana take the motorway to Postojna/Rijeka. Leave the motorway in Videž and follow the main road in the direction of Buzet and you will come to the Croatian border at Socerga/Požane. From Buzet follow the signs to “Tunnel Ucka”. Before the tunnel turn right in the direction of “Brestova” and then follow the signs “Brestova”. To reach Cres, Mali or Veli Lošinj take the ferryboat from Brestova to Porozine (the island Cres). To reach Rabac follow the signs to Labin, after which Rabac is 5 km distance. To reach destinations in central Istria, where a lot of our Country houses and villas are situated, follow the signs from Buzet to Pazin and from Pazin follow the road directions to the house.Route 6For destinations Rijeka and Opatija, the islands Krk, Cres, Lošinj, Rab and Pag, and for all the destinations in Dalmatia from Zadar to Dubrovnik please follow route 2 to Ljubljana. From Ljubljana take the motorway to Postojna/Rijeka. After leaving the motorway in Postojna, follow the signs for Rijeka. You will arrive at the Croatian border Jelšane/Rupa and from there follow route no. 4. |
