HOTELS, APARTMENTS & VILLAGE HOUSES
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Your room or apartment is normally available on the day of your arrival from 14:00
and must be vacated on the day of your departure by 10:00. In some hotels and village
houses it can happen, especially in the high season, that your accommodation is not
available until 16:00 or 17:00 and that you must vacate on the day of your departure
by 09:00 .For this reason we kindly ask you to be understanding because in certain
periods the influx of clients is so large that more time is required for the cleaning
and reordering of the accommodation so that it comes up to your expectations.
Hotel rooms
The descriptions of the rooms are made on the basis of the actual services that the
hotel is equipped with. However it can happen that
a hotel contains, for example, rooms with a balcony on the sea side, but which I.D.Riva
Tours doesn’t have under contract. The amount indicated
in the price list and the reservation are valid for the reserved structure. The majority
of hotels have double rooms which offer enough space for an additional bed. In some
cases it can happen that the room becomes a little congested because of the additional
bed and for this reason in some hotels there are rooms with convertible couches, which
can be a bit less comfortable than a standard bed. Other than that many hotels have
types of rooms that you will not find in our description e.g. rooms with 4 beds or
double rooms with a door which connects to another double room (so-called family rooms)
or suites. Since the greater number of hotels are arranged with double rooms, rooms
of this type are possible to reserve only on request.
“Sea side”
The sea side in the description of rooms means that these rooms are located
in the part of the hotel that faces towards the sea. In some hotels this will mean
that only some of these rooms actually have a view of the sea. In Croatia the preservation
of nature is regarded as of the utmost importance and this is, in fact, explicitly
mentioned in the State Constitution and it follows that sight of the sea is often
obstructed by trees standing between the hotel and the sea.
Services in hotels and the villages
We kindly ask you to observe that various services in the hotels as they are described
are sometimes not available to customers, particularly in the low season. Numerous
hotels in Croatia, during the winter and spring months carry out work aimed at improving
their standards and thus achieving a higher categorization. Consequently this can
result in, for example, the swimming pool not being usable in June, or in work still
being in progress. Another aspect is privatization; many of the hotel services, for
example Coffee Bars, Souvenir Shops, Beauty Parlours or Discotheques, are rented out
and run by private companies and therefore are not a part of the hotel organisation.
Some services do not choose to open until June and occasionally shut down their activities
early if business is slack or unprofitable. As a result some services may cease to
be available in the next season. Covered swimming pools and saunas are normally closed
in the months of July and August (sometimes also in June), and the water in outdoor
swimming pools is often not heated. Air conditioning is normally made available in
the event of high temperatures and at certain times of the day. In many hotels, deck-chairs
and beach umbrellas are already included in the price. However since they are available
in limited numbers, there is no guarantee that every customer will have his own deck-chair
and beach umbrella. In the low season some hotels might close earlier or later than
the specified date. If this occurs your reservation will be modified to a hotel of
the same category, at least equivalent to the one shown in your reservation.
“All inclusive”
Normally “all inclusive” services are available to customers of the hotel and this
will include the swimming pool but not the beach. The choice of drinks with “all inclusive”
packages has its limits; normally this will mean only one type of “house” red and
white wine and local alcoholic drinks (i.e. not Whisky, Gin, Vodka or Brandy).
Sports facilities and equipment may only be available for a limited time, e.g. a tennis
court can be available in the afternoon of the first day and in the morning of the
second day. In the same way, the number of beach chairs and umbrellas at the swimming
pool is limited, and there is no right to claim or reserve these. In “all inclusive”
Club hotels it is usual to ask customers to carry or wear a plastic bracelet during
the entire period of their stay. The “all inclusive” service begins with the issue
of the key on the day of arrival (normally between 12:00h and 14:00h) and ends at
the time of checkout on the day of departure (normally between 09:00h and the 10:00h).
“Lucky Hotel”
With “Lucky Hotel” bookings, the accommodation provided may not be exactly as described
on the website, e.g. the room may be without a balcony
Sport & Animation
Unless specified in the brochure description (for example “all inclusive”), sports
activities are payable at the location. Sports facilities are almost exclusively in
the hands of private entrepreneurs who normally don’t have anything to do with the
hotel companies. The sports facilities shown in the descriptions are those that were
on offer in the summer of 2005. I.D.Riva Tours cannot be responsible if, for instance,
in summer 2007 not all the sports activities described are available. In the low season
it is also possible that various sports activities are not available to customers.
Animation programs normally begin when the number of customers in the hotel is high
enough (from the end of May or the beginning of June until the end of September).
The same applies also to dance music.
Apartments, villages
The number of beds in the apartments is shown in the description and the price list.
The price is valid for the rental of the room(s) per day, independently of the fact
that the number of persons may be lower than the maximum number capable of being accommodated,
including children. There are rare cases in which the price is calculated according
to the number of persons. There are for example apartments for 4-6 for which the basic
rental price is calculated for 4 persons, while for the fifth and sixth persons there
is a supplement (see “additional person” in the price list). The maximum number of
persons in the price list cannot be exceeded. Prices include: rental of the apartment,
electricity consumption, and gas and water usage. In addition, final cleaning is included
in the price, but not everyday cleaning during the stay. In the large village apartments,
an apartment may be given to you which has not been fully prepared for occupation.
In this case we advise you to contact our representative at the reception desk
of the village, enabling us to request another apartment which has been fully prepared.
Furnishings in the standard Mediterranean apartment normally include: kitchen with
cooker with 2-4 electric or gas hobs (ovens are not normally available), refrigerator
(without freezer) pots, plates, glasses sufficient for the number of persons accommodated.
Household electrical equipment such as toasters or mixers do not normally form part
of the standard equipment. In most of the apartments tea towels and kitchen cloths
are included in the price, unless otherwise shown in the description .We advise you
anyway to carry them with you. Sheets are included in the price and are changed every
week, and towels two times per week. Dishwashing liquid and cleaner for floor washing
must be brought or obtained from the owner. This also applies to toilet paper; normally
a roll of toilet paper is made available on the day of arrival. It is possible that
beds are shown as beds but are actually convertible couches or fold-out couches (especially
in the studios and when the bed is in the living room).
Calculation of the price
The prices are divided into different seasons 1,2,3,4 and 5 per and per person in
the hotels and per day and room type for the apartments. To calculate the total price,
simply multiply the daily price by the total number of nights and the number of persons.
Pay attention to changes in the seasonal rates.
Services
Daily prices include: accommodation reserved in the hotel or the apartment and meals,
as shown in the description and in the travel confirmation, plus the services of the
representative at the destination.
Arrival
If you arrive with your own motor vehicle in seasons 1, 2 and 3 you can normally choose
the day of your arrival. The minimum stay is 5 days. In seasons 4 and 5 arrival and
departure are always on Saturday (or on another day if specifically requested) and
the minimum stay is 7 days. If you stay for less than the minimum number of days,
a supplement of between 20% to 50% will be added to the listed price. In case of “Lucky
Hotel” bookings arrival and departure are always on Saturday.
Parking
Parking in front of the hotels and village houses are guarded only if specifically
shown in the description. “Guarded” doesn’t mean that the parking is guarded continually,
but that a guard (generally employed by a specialised company) patrols the parking
zone during the night. Vehicles parked in one of these parking places are not however,
in any case, insured against theft or damage, even if you are paying the hotel for
parking. Like the hotel companies, I.D.Riva Tours cannot be held responsible for any
damage to the vehicle. Hotel companies may decide to make customers pay for parking
which appears from the description to be free, as soon as the season begins. For some
hotels or village houses the number of parking spaces can be limited and for that
reason there is no guarantee that parking space will be available immediately adjacent
to the house or hotel.
Farm Houses & Private Accommodation
Arrival
Booked accommodation is at your disposal on the day of the arrival (Saturday) from
14:00h. If you arrive earlier, the accommodation may not be ready or staff may still
be cleaning and tidying. In the event that you are delayed and will not arrive before
the evening or the following day, we kindly ask you to inform the owner of the house
or our representative on telephone number +385 91 4520026. It is not permitted to
exceed the maximum number of persons given in the description of the particular house.
This does not apply to children under two years of age (it is sensible to bring your
own crib, unless the reservation confirms that one will be available). In the event
that the number of the persons exceeds the number given in the description, the owner
of the accommodation can refuse accommodation to the person who is over the specified
number, or to demand a supplement.
Departure
Accommodation should be vacated on the day of departure by 10:00h, so that there is
enough time to clean and tidy the accommodation before the arrival of the next customers.
If you decide to leave early in the morning, you are kindly asked to inform the owner
of the accommodation.
Accommodation
Houses and apartments are fully furnished with kitchen and cooker (some with oven),
refrigerator (often with freezer) pots, plates, knives, forks and spoons sufficient
for the maximum number of persons. Household electrical appliances such as a mixer
are not normally available but in the great number of houses a toaster is part of
the standard equipment. Sheets are included in the price in all accommodation and
are changed every Saturday. Towels and tea towels are available (two towels per person,
which are changed two times per week). You should bring your own beach towels. Dishwashing
liquid and cleaning liquid for washing the floor are not included in the rental price.
This also applies to toilet paper, although in most cases a roll will be provided
on the day of arrival. It is possible that beds are shown as beds but are actually
convertible couches or fold-out couches (especially in the studios and when the bed
is in the living room). Often the beds have dimensions of 90 x 190 cm. French beds
normally have a width of from 140 to 160 cm. The cost of any damage to the furniture,
crockery or dirty towels which cannot be washed and re-used must be paid to the owner
of the accommodation.
Approximate costs and extra costs
Consumption of water, gas and electricity is included in the price, but the cost of
any telephone calls is to be paid at the location. Some owners offer breakfast, lunch
or dinner. We kindly ask you to agree at the beginning of your stay the costs for
these meals, because they must be paid directly to the owner of the accommodation
(unless they are included in the price of the accommodation or have already been paid
at the time of booking). Some owners offer for sale their own homemade products, prosciutto
ham, cheese, eggs, honey, wine, grappa, fruit and vegetables. In these cases we advise
you to agree the price in order to avoid any surprises at the time pf paying your
account. This applies also to bicycle or boat rental and to any excursions offered
by the owner of the house, and to cribs for children and to the accommodation of domestic
animals.
General Information
Representation at the Location
I.D.Riva Tours has a network of their own representatives, at practically all destinations,
who are at your full disposal during the period of your vacation. You will find the
timetable for your representative on the information table, or in the informative
maps, with the Riva Tours logo, in every hotel or village house. At some destinations,
like on the islands of Korcula and Mljet, the service is managed by agency partners.
With the travel documents which you will receive a few days before your departure,
you will also receive the telephone number of our offices in Croatia, which are available
7 days a week. Our offices in Porec, Zadar and Trogir are responsible for private
accommodation in the various regions. With the travel documents you will receive all
the necessary telephone numbers (fixed or mobile). For some zones (for example the
private land houses and houses in Istria, the private accommodation on the islands
of the northern Dalmatian Dugi otok and Zverinac), you will receive the representative’s
mobile number. For cruises on the classic motor-sailing boats, our representative
will welcome you on the day of arrival in the boarding port; the ships sail without
a representative on board.
Residence Tax
Residence tax for all accommodation on this site is already included in the price.
No tax is payable for cruises on the classic motor-sailing boats.
Local events during your vacation
We ask you to bear in mind that you have chosen for your vacation a Mediterranean
country. This means that several towns on summer evenings can be very lively and that
these festivities are not rare. On terraces live music is often played and there are
also open-air discothcques which are in open areas and are open until late at night.
If you are seeking a peaceful and tranquil vacation then please take careful note
of the description of the accommodation and choose what is described as a “calm” location
such as our land houses or the houses in the Kvarner mountain area.
Special requests and wishes
Special requests like, for example, a specific room, rooms or apartments close together,
or a specific plan of the hotel etc., will be noted and reported to the service provider.
We will do our best to accommodate your wishes, but we cannot take responsibility
for confirming that all your special requests can be granted. Such requests do not
form part of the tourist package contract.
Special Requests
In the event of reservations showing special dates or requests which are beyond our
control, it is often necessary to pass these on to the hotel companies or the owners
of the private accommodation. The answer can normally be obtained within 24 hours.
The demands can only be based on the obligatory reservation and once a positive answer
has been received, they automatically become fixed reservations. The cancellation
of such reservations (before or after receipt of the confirmation) is subject to our
"General Conditions for the Sale of Tourist Packages.
Other
For reservations, the brochure for the destination, hotel or private accommodation
is not obligatory and they do not form part of the contract. This also applies
to verbal or telephone confirmations. Only the date on this website and in the catalogue
of the tour operator is valid in the same way as the confirmation of the reservation.
The dates on this website refer to the relative dates at the end of the 2006 season.
Cruises on the classic motor-sailing boats
THE SHIPS OF OUR FLEET
These are motor-sailing boats of classic wood construction. They are distinguished
by their size, finish and comfort; we ask you to pay particular attention to the individual
descriptions of each ship on this website. All the information and dates refer to
October 2006 - it is possible that during the winter changes have been carried out,
so that the ship can have a different aspect from the one described in this catalogue.
A captain might also decide during the winter to sell the ship and to construct or
buy a new ship. It is also possible that a ship is under the command of a different
captain and crew from that described in this catalogue. Crew members change ships
from season to season. Some ships in our fleet are more than 100 years old, but this
only means that the name and the style are old. However all the ships have one thing
in common; they are nothing like the big cruise ships - life on board is without great
formality but you will be in good company.
CLOTHING AND TRAVELLING BAGS
Evening gowns and tuxedos should be left at home! On board of the motor-sailing boats
it is very fashionable to wear shorts and T-shirts and to be dressed for swimming.
Evenings can be a little bit cold (mainly in the low season) so is good to have a
pullover or vest. You may also need a raincoat. Since the space in the cabins is not
large, it is better to take with you soft travel bags instead of hard suitcases.
The service on the ship begins with supper on the day of boarding and ends with breakfast,
the day of the disembarkation.
DRINKS
Drinks are available in the main cabin, and also in the restaurant
and bar. Here you will also be able to order fresh drinks, with or without alcohol.
Normally the consumption of drinks will be recorded on a sheet and the account will
be paid at the end of the voyage. Clearly drinks on board cost more than in shops
on land, but in the end you are sailing on a small hotel. It is not permitted to take
your own drinks on board the ship.
DISEMBARKATION
Disembarkation normally takes place on the last day, from 09:00h.The crew
need time between disembarkation and boarding in order to clean up and to tidy the
cabins back to the way they were when you found them one or two weeks before.
WATER AND ELECTRICAL POWER
All the ships have water and electricity supplies, although not in unlimited
amounts. All the ships are fitted with generators providing 220 V but they are not
continuously in service. This also applies to air conditioners in the main cabins,
private cabins and the cabin corridors. They can only work when the generator is working
or when they are connected to a shore-based supply. The water reservoirs are adapted
to the number of cabins and to the number of beds, and are positioned so that every
cabin has sufficient water to take showers even if water refuelling is not made for
some days. This always depends on the water consumption habits of the passengers.
The ships have heated water for the showers (some of the water is heated by the sun
in tanks on the roof), but there will only be warm water until it runs out or until
someone else shuts off the shower in another part of the ship.
PEACEFUL EVENINGS
Generally, from 23:00h life aboard the ship is very calm. Naturally this
is not a fixed rule but it depends, very often, on the company on board. On some ships,
sometimes, parties can go on until late. Since the ships, in their construction, do
not provide good acoustic insulation, and in some ports it is necessary for space
reasons for ships to be moored alongside one another, passengers are asked to be respectful
of others.
MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT
It is not rare to find entertainment on board the ships. If someone has,
for example, his own accordion or guitar, they can take it with them on the vacation.
TRAVEL
Citizens of the European Union travelling to Croatia need to have
a valid identity card (for stays up to 30 days) or a passport (for stays up to 3 months)
or a children’s passport with a photograph. If children are travelling with their
parents, they can be registered in one of the parents’ passports. The Slovenian customs
authorities check, above all, the validity of documents. Expired documents will not
be accepted! Please check the validity of the documents (identity card minimum 30
days to run, passport minimum 3 months to run). It is not possible to enter Slovenia
or Croatia with an expired passport or identity card. Citizens of other states are
kindly asked to make enquiries in their nearest Croatian and Slovenian consulates.
dates. This plan was established in October 2003 and can be subject to changes of
course after making the reservation. At the time of the reservation it is a good idea
to ask for the ship and the route that interests you or which route the ship in which
you are interested will take. The latest plan of the routes can be found on
the website.
SHIP CHARTER
When chartering one of our motor-sailing boats it is necessary to take into
account the services required by all the participants on the voyage. If you decide
to go for full board, then this must apply to all participants on board. Combinations
of half board and full board in a group are not possible. The chosen service
must be paid for for the minimum number of participants for the charter of the chosen
ship . The list of the
participants must be delivered to us a minimum four weeks before departure. Up to
four days before the departure you are permitted, free of charge, to make changes
to the number of participants and their names. Routes, in Croatian territorial waters,
can be agreed individually, but the normal daily navigation can last up to a maximum
of 5 hours. If the average navigation hours are exceeded, it is obligatory to pay
to the captain a supplement for the fuel. If you decide to charter and opt for route
TRO 3, there will be a supplement of 30.00 € per person to be paid.
WOODEN CONSTRUCTION OF THE SHIP
Our ships are sailing normally, on all the routes, by motor engine - the sails are
raised only when the wind is suitable. However the sails can normally be raised two
times per week if the time schedule allows.
PAYMENTS ON BOARD THE SHIPS
The cost of drinks and additional services will be payable in the local currency (in
kunas) or in Euros. Credit cards and euro cheques are not accepted.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS
Every year more and more ships are fitted with air-conditioning in the main cabins
or in the cabin corridors, below decks and some also in the private cabins (with individual
regulation). With air conditioners in the corridors, the cooling effect in the cabins
can be only obtained with the cabin door open. Normally the air conditioning works
only when the ship’s motor is running or if the ship is connected to the electrical
supply on land. During overnight stays in the bays or small fishing villages, without
connection to the land-based electrical supply, the air conditioning is switched off
in most cases in order to provide for a peaceful night, which would otherwise be disturbed
if the ship’s motor was left running.
NUDISM
Even if our cruises are not specified as providing for nudism, there are opportunities
for sunbathing without swimsuits (except on the bridge of the ship) on a large number
of the ships, during navigation and in secluded bays.
Upon entering the ports nudism is not permitted. Since not everyone likes to swim
without a swimsuit, nudism must logically be in agreement with the other participants
on the cruise ship.
Embarkation
The embarkation in Rijeka, Zadar and Trogir takes place between 11.30 and 13.00. As
soon as all the guests are on board, the ship may leave. The port of embarkation for
guests flying to Croatia depends on flight times, which are not known as of yet. Those
travelling by airplane to Zadar or Split (port of embarkation is Trogir), will in
case of a delay be transferred to the first overnight port, so that they can board
the ship in the evening, or even late that afternoon.
Disembarkation
This usually takes place on the last day before 09.00. The crew needs the time between
your disembarkation and the embarkation of new passengers in order to clean the cabins.
In case you have booked your return trip by coach from Rijeka, it is possible that
a transfer-bus will come and pick you up after the disembarkation. This bus will take
you to Opatija, from where your coach will depart around 17.30.
Because the return flights from Zadar and Split sometimes take place in the afternoon,
you will still have enough time for to explore the city on your last day.
Routes
The routes can be as unique and individual as the ships themselves. The actual routes
may vary somewhat from those described in the brochure/website. Some captains wouldn’t
want you to miss out on their favourite bay, and certain harbours may be a bit cramp,
if several other ships are also spending the night there. Therefore the places that
are named in the brochure (or on the website) will not necessarily be the overnight
locations. You may visit this place during the day, in which case a different bay
will be found for your overnight stay. It is also possible do travel certain routes
in a reverse order; for example, on the RJK 1 route, half of the ships usually visit
Cres first(instead of Krk), and then carry on with the route.
Not included
Local taxes, and possible entrance fees. A total amount of 21,- euro p.p/per week
(10,- euro for a child under the age of 10)is to be paid on embarkation. Towels are
not available on board.
