Some of our guests will remember Captain Ivica Tomulić, who was Captain Alan's partner on the MS Albatros from 1989 to 2008. He then bought his own ship, which he used for another tour operator in the northern Adriatic. After the decision to build a completely new ship was taken by the family council in 2018, he sold his motorized sailing ship, to concentrate on the newbuilding. While he supervises the construction at the shipyard, his wife Suzana is pulling some strings in the background. Suzana is also the daughter of Toni Gulić, who was one of the pioneers of the „blue cruises“ in the 1960s. In 1974, he built the first motorized sailing ship specifically constructed for holiday cruises – the MS Poseidon. Until then, the motorized sailing ships were exclusively converted cargo ships. Meanwhile, Ivica’s and Suzana's daughter Iva is busy planning the interior. After all, the very comfortable motor yacht "MY Suzana" should make guests feel like at home when she sets sail from Rijeka for the 2020 season. Not only the whirlpool on the sun deck will be a special feature, but also the upholstered deck areas in the bow area of the upper and the sun deck, of course in addition to the usual comfortable sun loungers.

The MY Suzana is a new building for the season 2020. The pictures shown here are computer graphics.

Impressions from the itinerary

It is not easy to set up routes at the desk that would turn out to be ideal for the entire season. Once an itinerary is advertised in the catalogue, the captain must follow it. Anyhow, our cruises among a thousand islands cannot be as precise as the Swiss Railways, but rather go hand in hand with nature. How can the obligation of a tour operator, who needs to describe the travel program in a catalogue, be reconciled with the experience that it is often best to decide spontaneously to stay in a sheltered bay to swim, or to moor in a small fishing village, the name of which never showed up in the printed program? Just leave it to the captain – spontaneously and without any obligation to adhere to the usual routes – to create his route, depending on the weather and to show his guests familiar sites, as well as hidden secrets outside these routes. This was the wish of our captains, who often tell us – “The happiest of our charter guests are those, with whom we discuss the program and the route together.”
In order to make this possible also for our guests who book their cruises individually, and not as part of a charter group, we have listened to the proposals of our guests and captains and offer special Captains’ Tours, following the motto – “Let’s trust the captain – he will put together an interesting route for us, because ultimately, he knows the sea and the Croatian islands best!”

The city centre is close to the harbour and offers fantastic shopping opportunities, plus a number of cultural monuments and many places of interest. There is plenty of evening entertainment along the harbour road, the “Riva”.
