Location

Plitvice Lakes - Plitvice Lakes

Europe’s oldest and one of its most beautiful national parks is situated in Croatia. A World Heritage Site, found in the Dinaric Mountains, running parallel to the Dalmatian coast. A fairy tale world of secrets and transformations, which like a sleeping beauty lay undisturbed for centuries is awaiting you. In these dark forests lies a hidden treasure, a shimmering natural jewel – the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Here the elements merge to create a magical landscape like no other. The savagery and the splendour of nature combine to create a kingdom formed and ruled by water. Each season brings its own beauty, reshaping this ever revolving world. But winter or summer, from caves of ice to terrential cascades, nothing escapes the spel which water casts over this world. This restless landscape is constantly in motion, continually building new basins and dams, creating amazing waterfalls and cascades. Sinuous forests cloak the margins of the water labyrinth while gravity defined trees climb to the cliffs nurtured in the fine spray of the waterfalls. The unique topography of the Plitvice Lakes is a geological miracle brought about through the elemental marriage of rock and water – a paradise on earth everyone should have visited at least once in a lifetime. The national park’s main attraction are the 16 lakes which are connected to each other by waterfalls.
