Vis - Island of Vis

Description:

The “forbidden island” of Vis was not open to the public until the late 1980s. On the former runway of the airforce base, now wine is cultivated. The most striking feature of the island is the lush subtropical vegetation, which determines the image. The town of Vis is located in a sheltered bay on the north coast of the island and is the oldest town in Dalmatia, founded in 397 BC. Under the name Issa, it has been the first Greek colony on the east coast of the Adriatic Sea.
