Description:
Rogoznica is a charming coastal town located about 32 km south of Šibenik.
The town center lies on a peninsula that was formed in the second half of the 19th century, when the small island of Kopara was connected to the mainland by a 500-meter-long causeway. The mainland part of Rogoznica had already been settled in the 14th century; in 1518, however, the inhabitants fled to the islet of Kopara to escape the advancing Ottoman army. While the local population once lived almost exclusively from fishing, olive growing and viticulture, tourism is today the town’s main source of income.
