Brela

Description:

Brela, a small town on the Makarksa Riviera, is situated 15 km north of Makarska. The town consists of an older part (Gornja Brela) near the main road, and the newer part (Donja Brela) which lies on the coast. The ancient Berulia (Gornja Brela), which history says dates from the year 950 b.c., was for a long time a settlement for pirates. On the other side the modern part of the town (Donja Brela) developed itself into a modern tourist resort in the second part of the 20th century. This picturesque town is today the “door” to the Makarska Riviera. Brela is also located at the foot of the mountain Biokovo and is on the coast facing the island of Brac. Brela, thanks to its wonderful pebble beaches, its always green pine forests, the crystal clear sea and the comfortable hotels and private houses, is really a resort of unique beauty. In Brela there are opportunities for a variety of different sports such as tennis, bocce (boules), mini golf and various water sports, in the restaurants you can taste national and international specialities, and during the season there are often cultural and entertainment evenings, all aimed at ensuring you a first class holiday in Brela.
Excursions: visits to Split, Trogir, Solin and Dubrovnik, visits to the canyon of the river Cetina (rafting), excursions to the National Park of the river Krka, boat trips to the islands of Hvar, Brac and Korcula.
