Buzet is located in the extreme north of Istria, close to the border with the neighbouring country Slovenia. The picturesque medieval town is situated on a hill overlooking a green valley, through which the largest Istrian river - the river "Mirna" flows. Nowadays Buzet is well-known as the "City of Truffles". The rare and precious underground-fungus can be found in the northern part of the Istrian peninsula and is used for preparation of many different and delicious dishes that you should not miss to try. It is said that the white Istrian truffles can easily compete against the famous white truffle of the Italian region of Alba. In honor of the treasured fungus every year in September and October, the "Truffle Days" take place.
