MS Maček / Route R7
Port of Rijeka - Kvarner Region
Description
Built in 2004, MS Maček is considered one of the most comfortable steel hull vessels of our fleet. Due to wooden superstructures, MS Maček still emits the warm atmosphere of a traditional boat. Owned by the Vuković family from Krilo Jesenice for 13 years, her former captain decided in summer 2016 to sell the vessel to Kristijan Gulić, who used to be captain of MS Poseidon. We were very happy about this decision, because it was not only important to us that MS Maček remains part of our fleet, but also that she would get into the right hands. With her new owner, the vessel moved from Dalmatia to her new home on the Island of Rab. Since summer 2017, MS Maček is operating on our itineraries departing from the port of Rijeka. And Kristijan already proved that he and his new vessel are the perfect match.

Route
In order to make this possible also for our guests who book their cruises individually, and not as part of a charter group, we have listened to the proposals of our guests and captains and offer special Captains’ Tours, following the motto – “Let’s trust the captain – he will put together an interesting route for us, because ultimately, he knows the sea and the Croatian islands best!”
Exclusive Captain's Route – the insider tip for individualists
* From 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, boarding time in the port of Rijeka.
* The port of embarkation for passengers arriving by plane depends on the flight schedule. With transfer booking via I.D. Riva Tours and flight arrival to Rijeka airport until 11:30 am, embarkation in the port of Rijeka is guaranteed. Passengers arriving later will be transferred to the first port of call for embarkation.
* The itinerary is not prescribed, but created by the captain in a flexible way. Considering weather and sea conditions, he will show you his favourite bays and places.
* At least two nights in sheltered coves and small fishing villages.
* A maximum of three nights in major towns, visited by the route R1, possibly not on the same days as other ships.
* Whenever possible, the group will avoid meeting groups from other boats and sharing overnight locations.
* Whenever possible, encounters and overnight stays with groups from other ships will be avoided.
* If the night-time temperatures are not too high, the overnight stay in Mali Lošinj on Wednesday will not take place. We will instead stay in a secluded bay and visit Mali Lošinj for about two hours on Thursday morning. The same applies to Valun on Thursday. Overnight stay in the Bay of Nedomisje, not far from the town of Cres, and a visit to the town of Cres on Friday morning.
* In the event of high night-time temperatures we will have to stay in places with an electrical hook-up, because otherwise the air conditioning will not work during the night.
* In the event of bad weather or rain, port stays in the overnight stay locations will be extended, since (sun-) bathing will in any case be impossible.
* Adverse weather conditions can result in minor changes to the route.
* All the times listed are estimated and may vary.
* The route can also be sailed in the opposite direction.
* Nudity is permitted on the sun deck (also during the journey), in secluded coves and on (unofficial) naturist beaches.
* Nudity is not allowed in the saloon and when sailing into port, and bathing costumes must be worn as a minimum.

Port of Rijeka - Kvarner Region
Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia and the largest and most important seaport of the country. Rijeka is just a few hours by car from central Europe – public transportation (bus and train) depart from several countries on a daily base. The airport is located 30 kilometres outside Rijeka on the island of Krk. The city centre is close to the harbour and offers fantastic shopping opportunities, plus a number of cultural monuments and many places of interest. There is plenty of evening entertainment along the harbour road, the “Riva”.Sojourn tax and harbour fees are not included in the prices and are payable in cash on board upon embarkation. These are € 49 per person and week, € 24 for children up to 12 years.
Tip recommendation: You will certainly be happy to reward the service crew’s performance with a tip. We recommend an amount from € 10-15 per cabin and day.
