Charter of Ships

When chartering boats, you can determine the time of embarkation and departure from the harbour yourself. The time frame for embarkation is as follows:

  • Rijeka from 11:30 a.m., entry into the harbour from 8:30 a.m.
  • Zadar from 11:30 a.m., entry into the port from 8:00 a.m.
  • Trogir from 1:00 p.m., arrival at our car park reception from 10:00 a.m.

Disembarkation must take place by 9:00 a.m. on the last day.

Generally, embarkation and disembarkation take place at the same port. However, there is the possibility to choose different ports for embarkation and disembarkation (for example, Rijeka and Zadar), if you charter the boat for two or more groups in a row. For example, two times seven days, or two short cruises of three and four days.

The routes within Croatian territorial waters can be discussed individually; the average daily sailing time is about five hours (= 35 hours per week), but not more than seven hours per day. When exceeding the average daily sailing time, a fuel surcharge applies, payable to the captain. You should therefore inform us in time, if possible already at the moment of booking, about your route requests and wishes, so we can estimate the daily sailing time and calculate a possible fuel surcharge.

Examples of fuel surcharges:

  • Routes T1, TV = € 40
  • Routes T3, TD = € 80

The fuel surcharge is to be paid per person, according to the minimum number of charter participants.

When chartering a boat, half board service is obligatory for all passengers. If you opt for full board, this will be binding for all tour participants; the combination of half and full board within a charter group is not possible. However, it is possible for the entire charter group to book half board on specific days and full board for the remaining days (e.g. 3 days half board and 4 days full board). Please inform us at least six weeks prior to your travel date about your preferences. The selected catering is to be paid equal to the respective minimum number of charter participants, set for the surcharge calculation (please see the charter price tables).

Charter groups can choose between half or full board, regardless of whether the ship on regular cruises offers half or full board.

Additional meals or special requests, which may add extra costs, are payable on board.

The list of participants must be delivered at least six weeks prior to the travel date.

Entrance fees to national and nature parks are not included in the charter price and must be paid on site, per person:

  • Kornati Islands National Park from € 10
  • Telašćica Nature Park from € 10
  • Mljet Island National Park (depending on season) € 15–25
  • Krka Waterfalls National Park (depending on season) € 20–40
  • Lastovo Island Nature Park from € 4

Additional costs or fees (e.g. for stays, overnight stays or transit) may also apply. Conditions and prices may vary depending on the ship and season and can be requested on request.

We would be happy to provide you with a quote for additional excursions during your cruise. Examples include a kayak safari on the Zrmanja River (see Route RC for description), rafting on the Cetina River (see Routes TV and TC for description), and full-day bus excursions through Montenegro and the Neretva River Delta to Mostar (see Route T5 for description).

  • Zrmanja kayak safari = € 69 per person
  • Rafting on the Cetina = € 69 per person
  • Neretva Delta & Mostar (by boat & bus) = € 79 per person
  • Montenegro tour from Dubrovnik (by bus) = € 95 per person
  • City tour = € 140 per group

In principle, you can also charter a ship for ‘island hopping by bicycle’. However, this must be requested at the time of booking, as not all ships are suitable for this. The additional costs for this are per week:

Mandatory surcharge for handling (bike transport on the boat, special route) of € 25 per bike or € 45 per e-bike, payable at least for the minimum number of people specified for the calculation of surcharges (see charter price overview).

Riva bike tour guide: 1st tour guide € 1,400 per week, 2nd tour guide € 1,000 per week, including meals for the tour guide. We recommend two tour guides per group. Please note that a cabin must be reserved for the Riva bike tour guide (this does not reduce the charter price).

Rental bike (including rental helmet and delivery to the harbour); bookable only in conjunction with a Riva bike tour guide € 90 per bike.

E-bike (including rental helmet and delivery to the harbour); booking on request and only in conjunction with a Riva bike tour guide € 220 per e-bike.

Participation in the bike tours is at your own risk – I.D. Riva Tours is not liable for bicycle accidents or damage.

For safety reasons, we require participants to wear a helmet during bike tours when booking a Riva bike guide or renting Riva bikes. Even though there is no legal requirement for adults to wear helmets in Croatia, we require them for the safety of all participants. If you still refuse to wear a helmet, you will be required to sign a liability waiver with the tour guide on site. Your safety is important to us – please take these instructions seriously.

Of course, you can also charter a boat to go on a hiking cruise. The additional costs for this are per week:

Riva hiking tour guide: 1st tour guide € 1,400 per week, 2nd tour guide € 1,000 per week, including meals for the tour guide. Please note that a cabin must be reserved for the Riva hiking guides (this does not reduce the charter price).

We would be happy to make you an offer for a tour guide to accompany you during the cruise, e.g. for cultural trips. Guided city tours are also possible in most places, but these may only be conducted by locally licensed tour guides. We will be happy to make you an offer for this as well.

If you do not have a full week’s time, but still would like to charter a boat, feel free to contact us. We will gladly submit an offer for shorter charter trips.

Travel insurance is not compulsory, however we strongly recommend that you have cover for your own peace of mind and security. Emergency medical coverage is most important. Insurance policies vary, so read the fine print carefully to see exactly what is covered, or ask your travel agent for advice.
