General Information on Flight Travel

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, passengers at German and most European airports are only allowed to pass through security checks with one piece of hand luggage. If your airline or your booked tariff generally allows a smaller second piece of hand luggage (see menu above), you can check in your “normal” hand luggage free of charge at the check-in counter without being charged for the free baggage allowance.

During the flight, as well as during the stay in airports, mouth and nose protectors must be worn mandatory.

We recommend that you arrive at the check-in counter at the airport at least two hours before departure. Due to the often lengthy security checks, it is advisable to be at the airport three hours in advance at some airports, especially during holiday periods. You will find the departure times in the e-ticket in your travel documents.

Please note that some airlines charge for check-in at the airport, while online check-in is free.

All airlines (except charter flights with Croatia Airlines) now offer convenient online check-in. Check in from your computer at home and print your boarding pass, depending on the airline. With many airlines you can also check in with your smartphone and simply show your smartphone with the mobile boarding pass at the airport. If you have checked in online, you only need to hand in your luggage at the airport at the “Baggage drop-off counter”.

From and until when the online check-in can be carried out, you can find out by selecting your airline from the menu above.

Please note that some airlines charge for check-in at the airport, while online check-in is free.

If you have booked your accommodation or cruise with I.D. Riva Tours as a package deal with flight, you are automatically registered for transfer from the airport to your accommodation and back. You therefore do not need a separate transfer voucher.

The transfer times for the return journey are usually announced by the representative two days before the return flight at the information board in the hotel, in person or by phone. Cruise guests will receive their transfer times on Friday evening from our representative at the port of disembarkation.

Transfers from the airport to the hotel are normally carried out immediately after the aircraft lands respectively after baggage claim and passport control. However, there may be a waiting time at the airport, e.g. because the transfer is being made for two flights at the same time.

If you are spending your holiday on an island, the transfer bus will take you to the respective ferry port. As the transfers are carried out by scheduled ship and ferry lines, waiting times may occur at the port. After arrival on the island you will be taken by minibus to your holiday domicile.

If you arrive late by plane or return early in the morning, you may have to spend the night on the mainland, as there are no ferries at night. If you book accommodation or cruise with I.D. Riva Tours as a package deal with flight, I.D. Riva Tours will cover the cost of any overnight stay.

If you do not book your flight with I.D. Riva Tours but with the airline itself, you should therefore pay attention to the planned flight times if your holiday domicile is on an island. If necessary, you should book another flight or reserve accommodation for the overnight stay that may be necessary.

Please note that for combined trips (e.g. two different hotels or cruise + hotel) an intermediate transfer from the first to the second accommodation may have to be booked – the price for this intermediate transfer is available on request.

If you have booked only the flight with I.D. Riva Tours, you should have the return flight times reconfirmed by the operating airline two days before the return flight (but not earlier), as flight times may change at short notice. Of course you can also check the flight times directly on the airline’s website.

Flights booked through I.D. Riva Tours always include at least 20 kg free baggage allowance.

You can find out how much free luggage is included in the price by selecting your airline from the menu above.

In addition to your checked baggage, you can take one piece of hand luggage into the cabin, or two pieces of hand luggage on some airlines. Please note the maximum permitted dimensions and weight, which vary from airline to airline.

Please note that all sharp objects such as knives, scissors, nail files, etc. may only be carried in checked baggage and not in hand luggage.

Laptops/notebooks and other large electrical devices must be removed from hand luggage at the security check. These are screened separately as you pass through the security checkpoint.

You can find the individual hand luggage regulations by selecting your airline in the menu above.

Liquids – including gels, pastes and lotions – that you want to take with you in your hand luggage are limited to 100 millilitres per container. The same applies to mixtures of liquids and solids and the contents of pressurised containers. Typical examples are toothpaste, hair gel, perfumes or shaving foam as well as drinks, soups or syrups.

In order to get the liquids in question through the security check, they must fit into a transparent, sealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity of one litre. The bag can be a simple, re-sealable freezer bag, which you can easily buy in any supermarket. Please show the bag to the staff at the security checkpoint.

Exception: Medication and special or baby food required during the flight are not subject to these restrictions.

You are still allowed to: – carry liquids in suitcases and bags that are checked in. The regulations only apply to hand luggage. – buy liquids such as drinks and perfume, but only after security checks have been carried out, for example in shops at the airport or on board the aircraft.

Flammable and explosive materials are excluded from carriage, both in checked and hand luggage. These include lighter fuel gas or Zippo petrol. One gas lighter may be carried per person, but not storm or petrol lighters such as Zippo.

Please remember to remove any batteries from electrical appliances checked in with your baggage so that they cannot be switched on while stored in the luggage (e.g. electric razor, clock radio, etc.).

As several cases of battery fires have been reported for Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones, these devices may not be carried on board an aircraft. The smartphone may not be carried in hand luggage or checked luggage. This ban does not apply to Samsung Galaxy 7 smartphones.

Lithium-ion replacement batteries (e.g. for cameras) may not be carried in checked baggage, but only in hand luggage.

For replacement lithium-ion batteries or cells, only two lithium-ion cells or batteries up to a maximum of 160 Wh per person are allowed in hand luggage! To avoid fire hazard, the batteries must be carried separately and individually protected against short-circuiting, e.g. mask the battery terminals and transport them separately in two plastic bags.

Powerbanks may be transported in hand luggage in the cabin – and only in hand luggage! For safety reasons, all airlines known to us prohibit the carriage of Powerbanks in checked baggage, as there is a risk of fire in the event of a short circuit. If you nevertheless pack a Powerbank in your checked baggage, it is possible that the baggage will be opened after check-in and the Powerbank will be removed.

Power banks with a maximum nominal energy of 100 watt hours (Wh) are permitted without any problems. According to IATA, up to 20 Powerbanks per person can be taken along. However, not all airlines follow this recommendation.

According to the IATA recommendation, a maximum of 2 Powerbanks with a nominal power of 100 Wh and up to 160 Wh may be taken on board.

We have no influence on flight times. Therefore, it is quite possible that the arrival will take place in the evening, but the return journey will already take place in the morning of the day in question. If the flight arrives late, it is possible that the arrival at the hotel will not take place until after midnight. This does not give rise to any claims against I.D. Riva Tours. The basis of calculation is the number of overnight stays. Individual meals can neither be reimbursed nor additionally provided.

Please also note that even in the event of a possible return trip in the afternoon or evening, the accommodation must be vacated on the day of departure as indicated in the specific information on hotels, resorts, mobile homes and holiday homes or cruises under the heading “Departure”.

You will be informed of the scheduled flight times when you make your booking and these will be confirmed with your travel confirmation.

Please be sure to check the specific information of the operating airline(s) by selecting your airline in the menu above.
