Description
The Hotel Istra is located on the island of Veliki Brijun in the national park of the same name off the west coast of Istria. The Brijuni National Park combines Mediterranean nature, archaeological evidence from various eras, and more recent history as the former summer residence of Yugoslavian head of state Josip Broz Tito. The car-free island can only be reached by ferry from Fažana and offers a peaceful, relaxed setting. Hotel Istra is centrally located on Veliki Brijun and embodies the classic character of the historic island hotels in the national park.
Facilities: Reception, main restaurant "Neptun" with indoor and outdoor seating, à la carte restaurant "Galija" with terrace, conference room. Laundry service available for a fee. WiFi internet available throughout the hotel (free of charge). Parking available at the port of Fažana (for a fee, June-September €15 per day, otherwise €12 per day). The ferry runs several times a day according to a seasonal schedule. National park fee and daily ferry crossing from Fažana to Veliki Brijun and back included.
32 rooms: spacious and comfortable with air conditioning, LCD satellite TV, telephone, WiFi internet (free of charge), minibar, and hairdryer, bathroom/WC. Baby cot available on request (free of charge).
Standard double room: approx. 20 m², facing the park, can also be booked facing the sea. Rooms facing the sea have a balcony or French balcony.
Superior double room: approx. 43 m², facing the park, can also be booked with sea view. Rooms with sea view have a balcony or French balcony.
Suite: approx. 50 m², bedroom with double bed, living room with sofa, two bathrooms, one with walk-in shower, the other with bathtub. Balcony with sea view.
Meals: Extensive breakfast buffet, half board with evening buffet available at an extra charge.
Sport: A tennis court, 18-hole natural golf course, various hiking trails directly from the hotel. Bicycle and electric vehicle rental (for a fee).
Beach: The natural and peaceful Saluga Bay, surrounded by shady pine trees with deck chair rental and a bistro, bathing platforms, and pebbly sections, is about 800 m away.

Brijuni Islands - Istria
A world of virgin beautiful islands – legend narrates that when God created the Earth, and made an equal part into a paradise, Istria was born. This splendid region was a garden full of trees and fields, encircled by a crystalline sea and in which the inhabitants lived happy and serene lives. The Devil, not being able to support an idyllic place such as that, therefore decided to destroy it. He cut open a bag full of stones which an angel was carrying away from these lands, and let them fall on the entire territory, destroying fields and trees, but the angels collected with a huge effort what remained of that paradise and carried it into the middle of the sea, where the waves defended it. From these extracts were born paradises like the Brijuni Islands. On one small island, with a surface area of only 7 square kilometres, we find a multitude of archaeological finds of immense historical value, starting with the remains of the first Neolithics, situated in a village in the bay of "Soline" and continuing with antique roman villas. Moreover there are constructions from the Venetian and the Austro – Hungarian times; they constructed many sanatoriums, mostly at the beginning of the XX century, while for 25 years (1954-1979), Brijuni was the presidential residence. In this period it has been visited by heads of state from all over the world. This short history of the archipelago testifies to human presence for 5 thousand years and its development in respect of the flora and fauna and culture of the people who have inhabited it. It is a true paradise, a union between green fields and the blue crystalline sea, between uncontaminated bays and hills, characterised by the white Istrian stone.Price for all persons
