MS Sveti Vid / Route R9

Port of Rijeka - Kvarner Region

Comfort Plus

Description

This proud, modern three-master was a core part of our fleet for many years, until its former owner decided a couple of years ago to organise a different type of cruise. In autumn 2016, Sveti Vid was sold – and to none other than our long-term captain Marin Mladin (nicknamed Čičak or “burdock” because of his beard) from the Otac Luka, whose rudder he held in his hands for eleven years. Čičak and his son Marin completely renovated Sveti Vid in Winter 2016/2017 with no external assistance whatsoever. The bathrooms in all the cabins were completely renovated and newly furnished and the saloon was completely redesigned. His wife Nina also had a significant hand in decorating the saloon, which can be seen at first glance. While Captain Čičak steers the Sveti Vid with a sure hand through the Adriatic, his son Marin takes care of the guests and makes sure that everything on board is in perfect order.

Impressions from the itinerary

Route

Enjoy the carefree atmosphere on our ships with the whole family. The 'floating hotel' saves you the daily stress of getting to the beach - because the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic are right at your feet. Every day, the most beautiful bathing bays invite you to swim, snorkel and jump into the water. You will also stop at picturesque coastal towns waiting to be discovered. On board, the crew will spoil you with freshly prepared meals. The captain will tell you about the route and the region, and the kids will quickly get together to play, explore and have fun. You will spend the nights in a harbour on board. The cabins offer modern comforts such as en-suite shower/WC and air conditioning. And of course there is free WiFi so you can stay in touch with those at home.
This route is primarily aimed at families with children and offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation for young and old alike. For children aged 6 and above, a cruise with their peers is the ideal holiday - with exciting discoveries, games and unforgettable experiences on board and ashore.
Route:
Rijeka – Island of Krk – Island of Rab – Zadar – Kornati Islands National Park – Zadar Archipelago – Island of Lošinj – Island of Cres – Rijeka

If you are travelling to Rijeka in your own car, you can drive to the harbour and directly to your ship between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon at the latest. Here you can unload your luggage, which will be stored under our supervision until the cabins are ready for occupancy at 11:30 a.m. Our service team will then escort you to the garage and transfer you back to the harbour. You will then be welcomed by our tour guide and get to know the crew and your fellow travellers. Afterwards, we will set sail for the diverse island of Krk. We will first call at a bay to dive into the beautiful waters of the Adriatic for the first time. We will then continue on to Krk, the main town on the island, or Punat, where we will also spend the night.
The port of embarkation for air passengers depends on flight times. If you book your flight and transfer through I.D. Riva Tours and arrive at Rijeka Airport by 11:30 a.m., embarkation in Rijeka is guaranteed; if you arrive later, embarkation will take place at the first port of call.

After breakfast, we continue to the sun-kissed island of Rab. On the way, there will be time for a long swim in a sea bay. After arriving in the town of Rab in the afternoon, a tour guide will take us through the charming old town with its four striking bell towers. It stretches across a narrow, rocky headland, surrounded by water on three sides. Overnight stay in Rab.

We leave Kvarner Bay and set course for Dalmatia. After a swimming break, we arrive in Zadar, the centre of northern Dalmatia. Upon arrival, our tour guide will take you on a guided tour of the old town, which is located on a peninsula and surrounded by mighty walls. A highlight of the entertaining city tour is the sea organ, which produces mysterious sounds from the sea. Afterwards, the many local ice cream parlours tempt you with refreshments. Overnight stay in Zadar.

Today you will experience Kornati National Park – a unique archipelago with over 140 islands and rocks. We will cross the Proversa Passage and enjoy the impressive scenery. We will spend the night in the harbour of one of the islands of the Zadar archipelago, e.g. on Dugi Otok, Zverinac or Olib.

We set off for the island of Lošinj, which is not only known for having 300 cloudless or only slightly cloudy sunny days a year, but is also covered with dense pine forests. With a bit of luck, we may be able to watch dolphins playing in the waves today, as more than 220 dolphins registered by the ‘Adriatic Dolphin Project’ live in the waters around the island of Lošinj. After a swimming break, we reach Mali Lošinj, where we spend the evening and night in the harbour. Guided city tour followed by an opportunity for dinner in Mali Lošinj.

Just a short distance away is Cres, known for its olive groves and grazing sheep. After swimming, we reach the picturesque overnight stop of Cres. We stroll along the harbour together and discover small shops and quaint squares.

Today it's time to say goodbye to the Croatian islands. From Cres, we'll head back to Rijeka along the east coast of Istria. On the way, there will be one last opportunity to go snorkelling or swimming – either at Cres or along the east coast of Istria. Overnight stay in the harbour of Rijeka.

After breakfast, disembarkation by 9:00 a.m.
Notes:
The route may be changed due to local circumstances and current weather conditions.

The route can also be travelled in reverse order: Rijeka – Island of Cres – Island of Lošinj – Zadar Archipelago – Kornati National Park – Zadar – Island of Rab – Island of Krk – Rijeka

Port of Rijeka - Kvarner Region

Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia and the largest and most important seaport of the country. Rijeka is just a few hours by car from central Europe – public transportation (bus and train) depart from several countries on a daily base. The airport is located 30 kilometres outside Rijeka on the island of Krk. The city centre is close to the harbour and offers fantastic shopping opportunities, plus a number of cultural monuments and many places of interest. There is plenty of evening entertainment along the harbour road, the “Riva”.

Sojourn tax and harbour fees are not included in the prices and are payable in cash on board upon embarkation. These are € 49 per person and week, € 24 for children up to 12 years.

Tip recommendation: You will certainly be happy to reward the service crew’s performance with a tip. We recommend an amount from € 100 per cabin and week.
