MS Planka / Route RC

Port of Rijeka - Kvarner Region

Comfort Plus

Description

A couple of years after installing a new engine in his boat Planka, Jure Tomaš decided to renovate the entire vessel. Everything was torn down – the saloon, the cabins and the deck. When only the hull remained, Jure and a team of experienced shipbuilders rolled up their sleeves and started working – they built new cabins, most of them on deck and all with shower and toilet, plus individually controllable air conditioning. The MS Planka is among the most popular medium-sized ships of our fleet, and on particular dates, naturist cruises are offered. Although the family's new ship – MS Aria – made its maiden voyage in early summer 2016, Jure remained true to his Planka up to now. At the wheel of the Aria stood his son Marin. By the summer of 2019, the "carousel" was turning – while Marin was taking care of the family's next ship newbuilding – the "MY Alpha", which joined our fleet in 2020, Jure took over the helm of MS Aria. At the end of the 2019 season, the Marasović family from Krilo Jesenice bought the Planka, having already been a member of our fleet for several years with the MS Jerkić. While father Ivica is at the helm of the Planka, his son Jerko has taken command of the Jerkić.

Impressions from the itinerary

Route

Featuring a well-done blend of swimming, sunbathing, short bike tours, sightseeing tours, guided walks and easy hikes, our “Active & Cappuccino” cruises could be best described as „active light with a pinch of culture“. The kayak safari, including a picnic beneath the waterfalls, is one of the finest highlights to be mentioned. The program – always accompanied by a tour guide – is aimed at all those who don’t just want to spend their cruise on the sun deck and in the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic, but don’t want either to be forced to go on daily bike tours of 40 or 50 km or spend hours on hikes. And, of course, there’s enough time left over to sit around or enjoy a relaxed cappuccino. Our “Active & Cappuccino” cruise is also suitable for families with children, as it’s also possible to hire children’s bikes. According to the motto “anything goes but nothing’s compulsory”, you decide for yourself which activities you want to participate in, or if you would just like to spend one or more days on the boat relaxing and enjoying your free time.
Route:
Rijeka – Island of Cres – Island of Lošinj – Island of Molat – Zadar – Zrmanja Canyon (kayak safari) – Island of Pag – Island of Rab – Island of Krk – Rijeka

Embarkation, walk in Cres

If you are travelling to Rijeka in your own car, you can drive into the harbour from 08:30 until 12:00 at the latest and drive directly to your ship. Here you can unload your luggage, which will be stored in our care until the cabins are ready for occupancy at 11.30 am. Our bicycles will be waiting for you in front of the boat. After having chosen the right bike for you, our staff will proceed with loading the bicycles on board. There follows a meet & greet including a welcome drink with our representative, and you will have a chance to get to know the crew and your fellow passengers. We weigh anchor and head towards the island of Cres. We stop in one of the bays to take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea for the first time. Then we continue to the town of Cres. Upon arrival, we will take a walk through the town. Overnight stay in Cres.
The port of embarkation for passengers arriving by plane depends on the flight schedule. With transfer booking via I.D. Riva Tours and flight arrival to Rijeka airport until 11:30 am, embarkation in the port of Rijeka is guaranteed. Passengers arriving later will be transferred to the first port of call for embarkation.

Hike to Veli Lošinj and the ‘Mediterranean Fragrance Garden’

After breakfast, we set off for the island of Lošinj. It is known for its dense pine forests and for having around 300 days of sunshine a year with little or no cloud cover. With a bit of luck, we may be able to observe dolphins playing in the waves today, as more than 220 dolphins registered by the ‘Adriatic Dolphin Project’ live in the waters around the island of Lošinj. On the way, we will take a long break to swim in a bay. We continue our journey and, after lunch, enter the harbour of Mali Lošinj. This is followed by a leisurely hike to picturesque Veli Lošinj with its colourful houses (approx. 4 km). The small harbour is ideal for a stopover with a cappuccino on the harbour promenade. Afterwards, we visit the Mediterranean Fragrance Garden, where many species of fragrant plants thrive. Opportunity for dinner in the Konoba of the Fragrance Garden or in Mali Lošinj, overnight stay on board.

Bike tour on Molat, guided tour of Zadar

Our first destination today is the island of Molat. From the pier in the village of Molat, we cycle to the village of Zapuntel and back to our ship via the same route (approx. 18 km). Lunch on board and after a swimming break, we set course for Zadar, the former capital of Dalmatia. Upon arrival, our tour guide will take you on a guided tour of the old town, located on a peninsula and surrounded by mighty walls, which is rich in historical buildings. They will show you the most important sights – e.g. the Roman Forum, the round church of Sveti Donat, the cathedral of Sveta Stošija and the world's only sea organ, whose sound and ‘melodies’ are determined solely by the waves. Opportunity for dinner and overnight stay in Zadar.

Kayak safari or rafting on the Zrmanja

After breakfast, we will travel by bus to the Zrmanja River. Here we will pick up the kayaks and, after a briefing, head downstream over rapids and waterfalls (if the water level is very high, the excursion will be replaced by a rafting tour in large inflatable boats). At lunchtime, we will have a picnic at one of the most beautiful spots on the river. We will then continue paddling through the Zrmanja Canyon with its unique landscape and bird life. At the end of the kayak safari, there will be plenty of opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear waters of the river. Bus transfer back to Zadar. Dinner on board, overnight stay.

Visit to the olive grove in Lun, guided tour of Rab

Today we take a boat trip to Lun on the north-western tip of the island of Pag, stopping off for a refreshing swim along the way. Once in Lun, we walk to one of the most remarkable olive groves in the entire Mediterranean region. Over a thousand of the approximately 80,000 olive trees are up to 8 metres high and around 1,200 years old, with the oldest estimated to be around 1,600 years old! During a guided tour of the grove, we will also learn a lot about the importance of olives and olive oil in a healthy diet. After lunch, we will cross over to Rab, the island's capital of the same name. The old town of Rab, with its striking bell towers, stretches along a narrow, rocky headland, surrounded by water on three sides. Three streets run through the old town – the ‘Lower Street’ with cafés and pubs, the ‘Middle Street’ with boutiques, souvenir shops and ice cream parlours, and the ‘Upper Street’, which leads to the four churches with their bell towers. After arrival, guided tour of Rab. Opportunity for dinner, overnight stay.

Bike tour on Rab, walk in Krk

After breakfast, we will take an easy bike tour across the pine-covered Suha Punta peninsula to Frkanj Beach (approx. 15 km). After returning to the boat in Rab, we will have lunch and leave the harbour to head for a bay. We will anchor here for a swim before continuing on to the last island of our trip – Krk. After docking in the town of Krk, the well-preserved old town with its narrow streets, city walls and Frankopan Castle invites you to explore – you can end the evening in one of the numerous restaurants with a view of the sea.

Cycling tour on Krk

Our ship sets sail for Haludovo. On a leisurely cycle tour from Haludovo to Njivice (approx. 6 km), we follow the so-called Paradise Trail along the coast – with sweeping views of the sea and shady sections through fragrant pine forests. After lunch on board, we return to the starting point of the trip – with a stop for a swim in one of the bays before spending the night in the port of Rijeka.

After breakfast, disembarkation by 9:00 a.m.
Please note:
The route may be changed due to local conditions and current weather conditions. This means that lunch may be served on board instead of dinner, or vice versa.

Even though the programme is based on the motto ‘everything is possible – nothing is compulsory’ and you decide for yourself which programmes you would like to participate in, no refunds can be given for services not used.

For your own safety, wearing a bicycle helmet during the bike tours is mandatory.

Port of Rijeka - Kvarner Region

Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia and the largest and most important seaport of the country. Rijeka is just a few hours by car from central Europe – public transportation (bus and train) depart from several countries on a daily base. The airport is located 30 kilometres outside Rijeka on the island of Krk. The city centre is close to the harbour and offers fantastic shopping opportunities, plus a number of cultural monuments and many places of interest. There is plenty of evening entertainment along the harbour road, the “Riva”.

Sojourn tax and harbour fees are not included in the prices and are payable in cash on board upon embarkation. These are € 49 per person and week, € 24 for children up to 12 years.

Tip recommendation: You will certainly be happy to reward the service crew’s performance with a tip. We recommend an amount from € 100 per cabin and week.
